Children & Young People Priority Action Group (CYPAG) is a group of the Gloucester Partnership

News Update

The CYPAG sub group of the partnership worked with Play England to deliver a 'Play in your community' event on 22nd March 2011 at Parry Hall, Gloucester. This was part of Play England's 'Engaging communities in play' programme. Improvements in play provision have had a significant impact in Gloucester communities in the last 3 years and the workshop was about celebrating these successes and considering how we can shape the future of play in Gloucester.  What are the long term aims for Gloucester?

  1. Community groups taking on responsibility for ‘animating’ local play areas through play ranger, play days, friends of parks or parks watch schemes
  2. Increased levels of volunteering, both formal and informal, to support staffed and unstaffed play provision
  3. Sustain ongoing investment in play at the local level

The workshop was a real success involving 23 local people, including residents and representatives from a range of voluntary and public sector organisations. We have a strong base to work from.

Please find the summary and full reports below. A photo record of the workshop will be available soon. If you want to be involved in making Gloucester a great place to play then please contact us at community.development@gloucester.gov.uk

Vision

Over the next 10 years to make it easier and more enjoyable to be a young person in Gloucester.

Mission Statement

CYPAG will provide a voice for children and young people so that they can influence decisions that affect their lives, including strategies on play, crime and disorder and planning new developments.

Through joint working, the various agencies represented on CYPAG will deliver a range of accessible and affordable facilities in Gloucester, informed by the Community Strategy and by what children and young people have said they want.

In all it's activities CYPAG will promote community cohesion and offer opportunities for young people from the various and diverse communities within Gloucester to meet and work together.

CYPAG will also work to support young people to play an active part in their own safety and reduce the risk of them becoming involved with crime.
