Why have we developed a City Vision?

Having a Sustainable Community Strategy is a statory duty for all Councils.

At a meeting of the Gloucester Partnership held in August 2010 it was agreed to
produce a City Vision to replace the current Sustainable Community Strategy. After consultation with the public, it was decided that the previous Vision didn't suit the needs of our communites and it was felt a more focused document would help focus service delivery in times of reduced budgets.

All members of the Gloucester Partnership supported the need for a City Vision and Julian Wain, Chief Executive of Gloucester City Coucil, was appointed to sponsor the development of the Vision.

A key driver for the City Vision and a key document to come out of the Vision, will be a City Plan – a Planning Policy Document of the City Council. The City Plan, based on the vision for the City identified in the City Vision, will provide the Planning Policy Framework to support the infrastructure changes that will shape the physical environment of the City. In addition to the City Plan, the Gloucester Partnership will be developing relevant work streams to help deliver the other actions not covered by the Planning Framework.
